Midnight Mayhem: Students Brutally Attacked in Panjab University’s Hostel

In a shocking incident at Panjab University’s Hostel No. 6, two students were attacked with sticks, iron rods, and sharp-edged weapons by a group of fellow students around 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday. The victims, Vishal Malik, 25, a PhD student, and Azad Singh, 21, a UICET student, sustained multiple injuries, according to news outlet The Hindustan Times.

The news outlet’s report said Both students, hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan respectively, recounted that the attackers, who were armed with various weapons, knocked persistently on their door before launching the assault. Malik was struck on the head, causing him to collapse, while Singh suffered a severe hand injury from an iron rod.

The assailants were identified as students from the University Institute of Engineering and Technology. Hostel residents responded to the victim’s cries for help and rushed them to the hospital.

Authorities have registered cases under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. Dean of Student Welfare, Amit Chauhan, stated that a committee will be formed to investigate the incident and ensure strict action against those responsible.
