Nicolas Puech, the 81-year-old heir to the Hermès luxury empire, has found his multimillion-dollar claim unraveling. According to the news outlet CNBCTV, this month, a Swiss court dismissed Puech’s accusations that his former wealth manager played a role in the disappearance of his alleged $13 billion fortune. The court’s decision marks a dramatic turn in the long-standing saga surrounding Puech’s financial status.

The news outlet reported that Puech’s legal team revealed that the assets in question, approximately 6 million Hermès shares worth around €12 billion, are no longer in his possession. Once the largest single investor in the iconic luxury brand, Puech’s stake would have placed him at the forefront of the global luxury market. However, with the Hermès family controlling a combined net worth of about $155 billion, Puech’s previous fortune now appears to be in question.

The Geneva appeals court concluded there was no evidence of mismanagement by financial adviser Eric Freymond. The ruling criticized Puech’s claims as lacking clarity and substantiation, asserting that his blind trust in Freymond did not imply dishonesty. As Puech had previously relinquished control over his financial affairs, the court found no grounds for the alleged ‘gigantic fraud’ he claimed to have suffered.
