A local court on Monday framed charges against former Haryana minister Sandeep Singh in a molestation case filed against him two years ago. The court rejected Sandeep’s application to be discharged from the case. The charges framed against Sandeep include offenses punishable under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-B (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to disrobe), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Additionally, the court dismissed the complainant’s application to conduct the trial against the former minister on rape charges.
The complainant had filed an application under Section 209 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), requesting the court to commit the case after adding Sections 376 and 511 of the IPC.
