Pooja Verma’s Dynamic Journey in the Punjabi Film Industry

Pooja Verma, who made her debut in the Punjabi film industry with the action movie Baaz alongside Babbu Maan and Mukul Dev, believes her unconventional start hasn’t been a setback. “Although most debut in romcoms, my roles in thrillers like Baaz and Dakuaan Da Munda have not typecast me,” she says while in Chandigarh for a music video shoot. Pooja emphasizes the importance of exploring all genres, noting that today’s films are character-driven rather than focused on heroes and heroines.

Pooja, last seen in the Punjabi film 15 Lakh Kadon Aauga in 2019, explains her hiatus was due to busy schedules in Mumbai and the pandemic. “In 2023, I worked on a documentary and an OTT film still in production. Now in 2024, I’m back in Punjab with a music video and a romantic film,” she shares. Enjoying Chandigarh’s monsoon, she finds solace in the city’s soothing rains, saying, “Rain means chai and samosa for me.”
