The Punjab government reached a significant milestone on Tuesday by providing 45,560 government jobs within just 30 months of its tenure, significantly improving the lives of the youth. At the Tagore Theatre in Chandigarh, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh presented appointment letters to 586 new candidates in the Health and Family Welfare Department, calling it a historical moment that will transform the future of the state’s youth.
The new recruits comprise 558 Multipurpose Health Workers (Female) or Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), along with 14 Ophthalmic Officers, six Medical Laboratory Technicians Grade-2, three Stenographers, and five Ward Attendants (on compassionate grounds). While addressing the gathering, Dr. Balbir Singh stated that to further enhance the Health Department, the Punjab government is in the process of filling 1,390 doctor positions in phases, with advertisements for 400 posts already issued in the first phase. Additionally, the appointment of 435 house surgeons is underway. Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, the Health Department has welcomed a total of 1,910 new recruits, including the 586 appointed today, he added. Dr. Balbir Singh said that among the 986 new regular recruitments of Multipurpose Health Workers (Female), 586 joined today, with 428 more candidates set to receive appointment letters soon.
“It is a matter of immense pride that all selected candidates were chosen based on their eligibility and intelligence,” said Dr. Balbir Singh. He added that thanks to the Chief Minister’s efforts, reverse migration has begun in Punjab, with local youth opting to work in the state rather than seeking opportunities abroad.
The Health Minister also highlighted the addition of 30 new Aam Aadmi Clinics, bringing the total to 872 in just 30 months, serving over 20 million people in the state.
